Vacuum Repair Help

General
Vacuum Repair For the Do It Yourselfer…..

  • Belts - Belts should be changed frequently, not just when they break. Some belts will stretch even when the vacuum isn’t in use. This stretching will cause the belt to slip on the brushroll, thus causing the brushroll to either not turn at all or turn much slower, not brushing the carpet like it is designed to do.
  • Brushrolls -  Most brushrolls have strips on them that brush the carpet pushing the dirt into the vacuum. These strips will wear down over time, especially if the height settings are too low. Check your strips on the brushroll and replace them or the whole brushroll if needed to get optimum performance from your vacuum.
  • Filters – Most vacuums have some sort of filter system in them. Maybe a motor filter or exhaust filter. Most newer vacuums include a HEPA filter. Filters need to be cleaned or replaced regularly. If left, they will clog and restrict the airflow through your motor, possibly damaging it by overheating. HEPA filters should be changed regularly also to achieve the filtration you want from a HEPA vacuum. Removing dust, allergens, and smells from the air that you vacuum instead of putting them back into the air.
  • Bags - As bags fill with debris, fine dust clogs the pores in the bag.  A vacuum can not take more air in than it can exhaust.  If you reduce the exhaust, you reduce the suction. Change your bag frequently, especially when picking up fine dust particles.
  • Hoses – Whether you’re using an upright or canister vacuum, your hose should be checked periodically for holes or clogs.  You can visually check your hose for holes or splits.  If your suction is decreased even with a new bag and filter or if your vacuum is overheating, your hose may be clogged.  Try dropping a quarter through the hose,  If it hangs up, you have a clog.
  • Bagless Vacuums -  If you are a bagless vacuum owner, the filters are very important to maintain as they replace the bag. Clean after every use or emptying and replace regularly.

You are welcome to call me if you are having a hard time figuring out what the problem is with your vacuum.  Maybe we can figure it out together!

20 million vacuums end up in landfills every year

General

It’s important to know that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to buy a quality vacuum and  here at Walnut Creek Vacuum we hate to see our landfills piling up with vacuums that only lasted a few years if not a few months. We sell vacuums that last and our customers have been coming to Walnut Creek Vacuum for just for that reason. It may not be as profitable as selling a vacuum every couple years to the same customer but we have been in business for close to 60 years so we must be doing something right.

We find that some or customers have tried some of the disposable type vacuums and are tired of wasting money (even more so in these tough economic times)  and they want to buy vacuums that not only work better but last longer. That’s what we sell “Vacuums that last”.
